Advance Wars

Strategy/ Game Boy Advance/ 2001

Eagle and Olaf square off
It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Advance Wars (GBA)
****

This is one of my true current favorite games. This has many modes for anyone who likes to kill people with large tanks that look like the tanks that Hitler used in WWII.

The design map feature is, by far one of the coolest things about the games. No one ever wants to play on my maps because I usually give them one or two mech units and I get several Md. tank brigades. I bought this game without ever playing it and I have never wished I hadn't. The Kanbei guy is cool because when ever he wins a fight he has a back ground that is similar to the old Japan flag (the rising sun). Max, Andy and Sami are just you typical American generals and there is no odd feature about them to tell other than that when Max loses a fight he looks like he is crying. I feel that Olaf was created to be like Hitler because of his efficency in the snow and his low movement range in the rain. If you look at his tanks, they look a lot like the tanks that Hitler used. Also, Olaf uses the same military strategy that ol' Adolf used, wait and let little groups of four or five tank regiments attack small units and just let the units attack every thing that they can before they are destroyed. I know of nothing to say about Grit, other than that he is the most annoying person to fight because of his large missle and rocket range. You can beat him if you put very weak small units in front and sacrifice them and then just send every tank unit you have in and kill everyone that has destroyed your units, sort of like avenging someones death.

Overall this game is fun for anyone who likes the military, military games, or strategy games. Not "right wing" "neo-nazi" people who think that the brits are going to invade America and join forces with Canada and over throw the American goverment which is a "republic". (that last part is aimed toward a stupid little kid we all dislike greatly named Frank)

Everyone should go out and buy a GBA just for this game and then throw a large party for your friends and have a huge multiplayer battle tournament, because I cannot think of another games on the GBA that has such a great multi-player feature than this.
